Windows laptop hinge & casing repair
Broken laptop hinge? We rebuild mounting points and re-case rather than quoting a new lid. Dell, HP, Lenovo. From £69, Whitton High Street.
What the fault looks like
- —Lid creaks, cracks or separates when you open it
- —Bezel popping away from the screen at one corner
- —Hinge seized so stiff it is breaking the casing around it
- —The classic: dropped once, now the lid will not stay open
What we actually do
Nine times out of ten the hinge is fine — the plastic mounting points in the lid or base have sheared. We rebuild the mounts with structural epoxy and brass inserts, which is stronger than the original moulding.
Where the casing itself is too far gone, we source a replacement lid or palm-rest and transfer everything over.
Catching it early matters: a £69 mount rebuild becomes a screen replacement once the twisting lid cracks the panel.
